Reflections of a Contemplative Chimp

With a spark of inspiration from observing one of the most intelligent species on earth, I am thrilled to share my artistic journey through the art creation of a Chimpanzee in its natural habitat. After studying a series of photographs, old masters’ drawings and the knowledge I have gained throughout a lifetime while watching documentaries about Chimpanzees, I was able to transition my driven inspiration to my digital canvas.  As the sketch evolved along with layers of painting processes, I remained focus in interpreting the contemplative gaze in the eyes coordinating with a pensive hand gesture right below its chin to breathe life into the Chimpanzee’s portrayal.
